We have two separate programs regarding rank. For the younger students, there is a belt system where we have delayed some requirements based on an understanding of the developmental levels of the children in the class. When the children ‘age out’ of the 4:00 class, they switch over to the ‘teen / adult’ requirements at that time. They keep the rank at which they switch, and test when they have achieved the ‘teen / adult’ requirements for their next rank. There is no ‘child black belt’ rank, as there is no way to achieve all of the requirements before they move to the ‘teen / adult’ class.
At the Teen / Adult level, the requirements are the full requirements of the Kempo Jutsu Kai. It is not unusual to remain at a given rank for more than a year, especially at the intermediate / advanced levels, as there are many things to learn and practice so that they become ‘second nature’.
